The state committee of Association for Democratic Rights Punjab held its first meeting in Ludhiana and resolved as following
The meeting took a serious note of institutional collapse and their manipulation which is giving rise to threat to democratic working and this more intensified on taking over of Government by Mr Modi . Who having failed to recover tax dues from Corporates and Rich has directed the Income tax department to collect 78 lakh crore from the common public in small towns . The eagerness to help corporate loot the repeated ordinances are being issued to snatch land from people and increased attacks on the defenders of their land and resources. It is such economic crisis which was addressed by suspension of Democratic Right during emergency whose 40th year starts on 25th June. Rightly said if one does not learn from history then we are condemned to suffer more severely . Hence AFDR has planned an awareness plan through out Punjab on continuation basis.The meeting also issued appeal to all Democratic people and parties to come support and plan the awareness campaign.
Meeting adopted a resolution of condolence paying rich Tribute to Departed Communist and anti Communal crusader leader Sh Jagjit Singh Anand . His contribution to worker Rights ,secular journalism and social awareness was highly appreciated.
In an other resolution meeting strongly condemned the attack on students protesting by the combine of transporters ,their goons and state machinery . The Police acting in vindictively having fabricated false cases and after people strong e protest creating panic by house searches of student leaders. It was called that all cases against students be withdrawn.
